Working with complex problems

Vitor Amorim

As designers, we are constantly talking about the need to focus on the problem rather than the solution. At some point in your career you've probably run into problems so complex that you don't seem to have a way to solve them. Digital products transform the society around them and with this they propose to solve increasingly complex problems, and we, designers, consequently have situations that are increasingly difficult to be resolved. But do we know how to define what a problem actually is? And when the problem is complex? How to deal with this and look for solutions from a design perspective? In this workshop I propose a reflection on the different types of problems and how we should deal with them. We'll also discuss ways to solve highly complex problems to translate this into evolutions for digital products and improvement for the experience and the business.

(They - Them)

Vitor has a long trajectory through different projects, contexts and companies, and today, as UX coordinator at Globoplay, he has the challenge of helping in the digitization of the largest media company in Latin America. The challenge goes beyond being a catalog of films and series, but rather a platform for news coverage, sports broadcasts (eg Olympics), realities shows (eg BigBrother), shows/lives, soap operas, podcasts and various live channels ( E.g. GNT, Multishow, Off), etc. He graduated in Design, specialized in Ergonomics, AI and Usability and is now taking a Masters in Design, with an emphasis on Human-Computer Interaction at PUC-Rio.
