Countdown: designing against the clock

Sabrina Pardo

I want to tell you about my learning experience from two product design projects in which I participated as UX junior analyst. The products are different at first sight, yet both have been redesigned from other apps by long-standing but not so popular Argentinian companies, who have been doing a great job in inserting themselves and growing in the fintech world. This field is on the rise due to the pandemic and has been led by Mercado Libre in Argentina, setting the standards and making all other companies follow along if they want to remain competitive. This state of things came to be due to the fast digital transformation, making us sit and think how we could improve our future processes, in order to make them more effective, inclusive and transparent. However, what is more interesting in this journey are the aspects of commonality that just happened as we developed these products (processes, work modality, virtuality, short time, results). I will try to convey the emotions we experienced, as we only had a couple of months to deliver a solidly based MVP, allowing for growth, improvement, scalability and a good experience. I will focus in showing how it is possible to add value and apply UC in short, highly-valued projects.

(They - Them)

I work as a UX Designer at Flux IT since August 2020. At the moment I am in a client in the Insurance field and we form a multidisciplinary group where we set forth solutions for portals, always user-centered. Before this project, I worked on very different others and that is what I would like to share with you. Although they all pursued the same goals, in the case of the previous ones the methodology, timing, communication with stakeholders and the approach to users was extremely rich in challenges. My academic training is in Visual Communication Design (UNLP- 2015), yet since my interest in user experience arose my career took a turn, I studied and am taking my first steps as a UXer from scratch, already facing these so beautiful challenges. I am part of the IxDA La Plata chapter, where we offer talks and workshops to the local community.
